Artwork

All art is is a mirror.
All art is is a mirror, so if you don’t like what you see, that’s not a license to judge me…it’s a license to understand what mechanisms you've recruited to unleash that response.  In essence you are offended by what you see: you or the absence of you.  If you don’t want to know why my work offends you, it’s because you choose to tolerate your suffering.  I don't.

Inspired by Muse #4 (I saw the absence of me)

My first painting in 20 years

I did not intend to paint this, it just sort of happened.  I started painting this initially on the opposite side of the canvas.  It was only when I walked around to the other side I realized what I had inadvertently painted.  This was a combined effort with a friend of mine who made her contributions as well.  I am intimidated by paint, so this was a nice outcome.  I shall call this piece, "Mermaid."

I just found this.  I did this during a college night course years ago with a friend.  This was the final project.

My Muse

I think you'll agree this is the most bizarre drawing I've created.  I have been thinking about this concept for under a year now and while it didn't turn out as I envisioned, it's exactly what it's supposed to be (if that makes sense).

This was a tough one to draw.  I just want it to come out perfect, but there's always a bit of distortion between my brain and my hand.  It's not what I had originally envisioned, but it turned out better than I had expected.  The key to my drawings is it should be something you've never seen before, but you know EXACTLY what you're looking at.  I believe I achieved this.  Any encouragement would be appreciated as I find drawing a LOT more intimidating than writing.  Writing I'm fearless so I have no problem erasing or modifying content.  I have at least three more drawings to complete my work for me second book.  My 40th birthday is coming up in January so I'm hoping I can convince my wife to allow me to publish my second book.  I will make the book free on YouTube if you simple wish to watch my content.  Cheers.

First drawing for my new book

It's been more than a year since I've drawn anything.  I've been working hard on my new book since the summer of 2017.  I'm at a point with my manuscript that I'm shifting focus to the accompanying artwork.  I have a few ideas that will be very difficult to execute on but I'm going to give it my best.   I will be tweaking the drawings as time marches on so what you see here is not the final result.  Hope you like it, this piece is called "The Will to Starve".  Enjoy.

Tomato Face

Tomato face is unique because I literally this saw face in the picture of a sliced tomato all the wall of a my local mall.  It freaked me out when I first saw it so I snapped a picture of it and I used it as a reference to draw this piece.  This was my earliest of the run so it wasn't time-lapse recorded but it's fun to see the comparison between the image of the sliced tomato and the final result.  Enjoy.
